Okay, a slight complaint against Iplehouse - I NEVER got an email confirmation when I placed the order nor when they shipped Cam. I've been checking status every few hours, tried the code they had in the order status on the EMS website and got 'not found' every time, and nothing changed since I contacted them last week (where they told me the order was being boxed up but Cam's face wasn't done yet). I'd even whined to Mac today that it was obvious that the boy wasn't going to get here for the upcoming holiday, and maybe not even by year's end.

So imagine my surprise when I came home after having lunch with a friend to find a slip in the mail saying he was here! Of course I had to rush to the post office once I was done with work to get the boy, and I've taken lots of (semi-blurry) pics!

One thing - I probably should have done more research and gotten the mobility thigh, as his upper body seems very tight but his lower body is very 'loose' in that it's easy for his upper legs to pop out from the hip joints. He's also a *bitch* to get to stand up, compared to Aidan, an IP YID doll who really, *really* needs restrung.

Cam is *heavy*. Gorgeous face, though, very sharp features, Had a moment of panic when I swapped out his eyes (he came w/ blue, and I got some green ones that'll last until I buy a better pair) and his head came off as well (twisted the hook when I tried to move it out of the way, it seems). I really need to trim his bangs, but am too nervous to do so (wonder if my hair dresser will mind doing it for me?). And as soon as I get Aidan's custom outfit and see how it turned out, I'll be ordering one for Cam.

I've left the post unlocked since I'm not sure how many pics of the new IP EID Chase doll are out there yet (I know I ordered the doll the first day he was available as non-LE) - yes, yes, I'm a bad DoA member and need to spend more time on the site. In addition to all the unpacking pics, I've included ones of Cam and Aidan together, since I do know it's not too easy to find comparative pics of the EID and YID dolls (or at least there weren't many out there over a month ago). Aidan is definitely very delicate compared to Cam, but I don't think the size difference is as bad as I feared.

So glad the boy is finally here! And that Aidan isn't so alone anymore. Will try to take better pics of the boys posed together in upcoming days (after I recharge the battery).

Finally made it through the semester, but am running smack dab into the holidays. Spent the last several days in various states of vegetation: sleep, couch potato, zombie.

I am finding it a little hard to get a few things accomplished, like sending out holiday cards and gifts to family.

This is not drawing. This is also not laundry. Today was decompression time though, so laundry has been pushed to tomorrow. In the process of compiling this I realised the creative niche that vidding fills for me, which is being able to sort all my squeeful thoughts and say here are all the things I love about ____. With music attached. I always feel slightly weird about vidding since I don't approach it with any intention to learn the finer details of editing or crafting a strong visual narrative, but coming to understand why I vid makes me feel more comfortable sharing what I've made.

I also feel like all the classic and contemporary big band/crooners I've been listening to while working in the lab this semester was just preparing me to fall in love with this show. Also, OT3 much? Purr.

Guess who is done with finals, omfg.

Tomorrow I am going to celebrate by doing laundry. Which doesn't seem exciting, but I am down to the Clothes I Never Wear. Which is also a good indication of what needs to go in the donate pile.

ALSO I AM GOING TO DRAW. My god, am I going to draw. Later when I am a little less DONESQUEE, I will post some shots of my projects. I am pretty damn happy with them.

Okay, I *promise* that there will be more AoC by Christmas. *And* I'm hoping to write a couple of winter-themed one-shots in upcoming weeks. Real life... has just been unexpectedly busy and down lately. I think 2009 was just determined to be one heck of a memorable year, good and bad.

I just wanna hide under lots and lots of blankets for the next few days. Unfortunately that will have to wait. Final push of projects - finished the awful book review and the term paper, still have presentation of group project (hopefully, I don't make a fool out of myself tomorrow) and another book review. the last final will be online on Wednesday - hooray!

You see up there where I reference the "awful" book review? Yeah, that review turned out to be 14 pages. I hope the instructor chokes on it...

See, the assignment was this:

"Your review must be divided into two parts: a descriptive part and a critical part."

No problem...that's do-able. Here's the insane part:

go over every chapter in the book and offer a brief description of the author's key points.

Wait, there's more!

When doing so, explain the method of development - the way the author supports his/her thesis. Illustrate your remarks with specific references and quotations from the book.

For a book that has 13 frickin' chapters...holy hell, professor! You could have had the class write research papers and they would have been more fun and entertaining. Talk about sucking the life out of a project.

Then...

In the critical part of the review, you need to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the book... yadda yadda yadda.

Yeah, so that's done and I am glad that it is. That means that this particular class is finished for the term.

I have the Pacific World in Transition in 19th Century class ending tomorrow. the other two will be finished on Wednesday and then, I swear to whatever god or goddess may be frickin' listening - I am so going to hibernate for three days (at least)!

Yeah, I'll get right on that...just as soon as I read that book that should have been read last week for the book critique that is due on Wednesday! O__o

Last night I picked up pasta for dinner from the cafe around the corner, and instead of working on our finals, J and I watched 5 episodes of White Collar.

In our defense, we were both too exhausted from work to do anything productive.

Also in our defense, we are addicted.

We will be saving the last ep for /after/ finals. I... I'm probably going to need icons. :x

I'm ridiculously behind on my lighting final. I'd been struggling with a specific hurdle, and I got past that this last weekend, but since I was working so hard on figuring out wtf my problem was in only that one area, I'm now behind on all the other parts. Oops. I console myself with the fact that it's not part of my major, I just wanted to know how to do it and now I do, so I'm good so long as I pass.

My modeling finals, while running into a few issues that are mostly hardware related are going fairly peachy. I'm not going to get them as polished as I'd like, but considering that I was spreading my time between four classes and work, I'm pretty damn happy with what I've come up with.

Wednesday... zomg. Wednesday and I'll be done for six weeks with mostly online classes in the upcoming semester. I might be working full time, but omg that I can handle. This semester has been one long steady crush of too much to freaking do. I'm mostly caught up on all my CSI TV at least (we shall not speak of SPN). J and I are one episode of Fringe behind, but we might be able to sit down for that tonight.

And now I have sipped at my tea and my fingers are warm and I should get back to rendering. Cue flaily arms.
